Kampong Ayer Water Village

Kampong Ayer, which existed since the 10th century, is actually a cluster of villages, each with their own village leader.

The whole area's are connected by a complex web of walkways and bridges. It's containing scools, police station, fire brigade, mosques and it is a thriving community functioning with all the comforts of the modern era.

Brunei's civilazation started here with fishing and handicraft, and developed to a commercial and social center for the region.
