Driving in Brunei is an exercise of experience in the mirror. Left side is the right side, so when you suddenly relax and end up on right side, then you’re on the wrong side. Practice makes you adopt the traffic picture faster, so after 3 weeks I’m been doing 2300 km road riding – exploring the cities and the countryside.

Awas - danger
Perlahan - slow down
Berhenti - stop
Masuk - in
Keluar - out
And then the car, a Toyota Vios which is a four-door subcompact sedan developed for the South East Asia, China, and Taiwan markets. Introduced in 2002, and mine is an automatic 1.3 litre, below the Toyota Corolla and Toyota Camry, both of which are also marketed in the region. In the United States, the second generation Vios is known as the Toyota Yaris sedan. A well-functioning car in the cities, but on the motorway this small car with even smaller engine is overtaken by a large range of sportscars.
